In 1989 event promoter Geogh Bullock held two parking
lot carnivals known as "Occasional Playground" in the
South of Market district of San Francisco. The carnival
featured a number of unusual participatory carnival games,
among them was "Bowlling For TV's" in which participants
would be given 3 chances to roll a bowling ball down a
makeshift alley and attempt to implode the screen of a
TV set. In the spirit of the well known "Kill Your Television"
bumper sticker, both the spectators and participants were
caught up in a "play as therapy" experience.
